Edwin T. Burton

Visiting Professor of Economics

University of Virginia

Dr. Burton has been a Visiting Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia since 1988. Ed is a Trustee and former Chairman of the Virginia Retirement System. He is an internationally respected professional in the fields of consulting, investment banking, politics, and teaching. Ed’s areas of financial expertise include asset management, security valuations, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, options markets, and hedge fund management. He has been featured in publications around the world and is a renowned speaker. Ed is a former President of Rothschild Financial Services, Inc. and Senior Vice President at Smith Barney. He is a Director and consultant for several corporations and numerous organizations. Dr. Burton earned a BA and MA from Rice University (’64 and ‘65) and a Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 1971.
